Agricultural Extension Programs
Managed on behalf of the South Australian No-Till Farmers Association and funded through the National Landcare Program. A large scale, 3 year community consultation and extension project, based in the Lower North of South Australia, included demonstration sites, community surveys, extension workshops and publications.
Developed in conjunction with the Bestprac network, Rural Directions Pty Ltd gathered and edited over 100 innovations for the pastoral wool industry. Innovations were compiled into a printed manual and, since this publication, flow-on projects have resulted in online case studies and videos (for more information, please visit www.bestprac.info).
Program & Project Management
Management and integration of seven subprograms, operating nationally, that delivered industry development services to vegetable growers and other stakeholders.
Provides network management, industry consultation knowledge, diverse delivery methods and funding coordination to deliver on-ground and networking activities for rangeland wool producers, since 1997.

Industry Planning & Development
A strategic plan for the future of R,D&E in the Mallee outlined a future vision, strategies and goals to achieve it. Extensive desktop research, consultation with a steering committee and with industry stakeholders underpinned the plan.
A feasibility study on Haythorpe Station on behalf of the Indigenous Lands Corporation involved consulting with local stakeholders, visiting the property and assessing infrastructure and features. Recommendations were made on future enterprises and options for managing the property.
The complexity of managing multiple enterprises within one farm business requires careful management to optimise performance.
Meat & Livestock Australia is funding a national project to identify what it takes to successfully integrate cropping and livestock enterprises in southern Australia.

The project objectives are to operate a benchmarking tool for Australian oyster industry; using SnapShot, collect, analyse and report key production and marketing practices and individual business financial performance; provide recommendations to the growing sector on key areas of focus for future R&D activities; and communicate recommendations with growers.
For SA Rural Business Support Service and Primary Industries and Resources SA. 32 businesses were surveyed and benchmarked using SnapShot Premium and SnapShot NOW. Common characteristics of profitable farm businesses were identified. A report was prepared for industry, which has directed future funding models.
The GRDC invested in Resilient Grain Leaders, a national leadership capacity building program. Delivery from 2014 – 2016 with two rounds, this program has engaged 60 grain growers, advisors, researchers and other industry professionals. Rural Directions developed, managed and delivered this program on behalf of the GRDC.
A biennial leadership program designed for young merino breeders across Australia. The program coordination role includes managing funding, participant coordination, guest presenters, delivery of training sessions and evaluation. The program has run since 2006.
In 2012, workshops were held in Adelaide and Swan Hill for Grain Growers. The workshop program was designed, technical content developed, presenters coordinated, logistics arranged and evaluation conducted.
